AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING ONE-WAY STREETS FOR CERTAIN TIME LIMITS AROUND HILLCREST SCHOOL

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: From and after passage and adoption of this ordinance, Hillcrest Drive from Wilkins south to Highland Drive shall be designated as a one-way street from 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. and from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Monday through Friday of each week that school is in session.

 

Section 2: The Chief of Police or some person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described streets at the proper places, appropriate signs reading “ONE WAY” and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate such signs.

 

Section 3: All ordinances and/or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of such conflict.

 

Section 4: It is found and declared by the City Council that due to congestion of traffic and dangers in loading and unloading children at Hillcrest School, there is created and caused a traffic problem and hazard resulting in injuries to persons and property and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 7th day of December, 1981.
