AN ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO VOTE UPON THE QUESTION OF LEVYING A MUNICIPAL MOTOR VEHICLE TAX FOR THE YEAR 1975, UNDER AUTHORITY OF ACT 446 OF 1965 AS AMENDED

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is required to provide and maintain streets of the city and find the additional cost of labor and materials necessitate additional revenues; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this Ordinance is to submit to the electors of the City at a special election called for that purpose the question of authorizing the Levying a Municipal Motor Vehicle Tax for the year 1975 under authority of Act 446 of 1965 as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That a special election is, and the same is hereby called to be held in the City on September 3, 1974, at which election there will be submitted to the electors of the City the question of levying a Municipal Motor Vehicle Tax for the year 1975 under authority of Act 446 of 1965 as amended.
Section 2: That the question shall be placed on the ballot for the election in substantially the following form:
Vote on measure by placing an “X” in the square above measure either FOR or AGAINST:
FOR the levying a Municipal Motor Vehicle Tax for the year 1975 under authority of Act 446 of 1965 as amended…………………………………….?
AGAINST the levying a Municipal Motor Vehicle Tax for the year 1975 under authority of Act 446 of 1965 as amended…………………………………….?
It is proposed by resolution of the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas (“CITY”) that the City levy a Municipal Motor Vehicle Tax for the year 1975 upon the owners of al motor vehicles within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, for the privilege of using and operating said motor vehicles upon the public roads, streets, and other public ways of the City, but that the tax become effective only in the event that the Craighead County Quorum Court by the time of the adjournment...
