BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
 
SECTION 1: That Chapter 11.04, Building and Construction, Section 11.04.04, Same Amendments, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is hereby amended to read as follows:
 
11.04.04 SAME - AMENDMENTS.
 
(g)   SECTION 1206, Earthquake Design Loads, is specifically deleted from the City's adopted version of the 1988 Southern Building Code.
 
SECTION 2: If for any reason, any portion of this Ordinance is held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no way affect the remaining portions thereof which are valid, but such valid portions shall remain in full force and effect.
 
SECTION 3: It is found and declared by the City Council that an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
 
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of October, 1989.
