ORDINANCE FOR THE COMPLIANCE WITH A.C.A. 14-42-107 AUTHORIZING AGREEMENTS WITH TWO CITY EMPLOYEES FOR LABOR AND EQUIPMENT

WHEREAS, A.C.A. 14-42-107 requires an ordinance be enacted specifically permitting the conducting of business between municipal employees and the City of Jonesboro; and

 

WHEREAS, the Public Works Committee heard and recommended the purchase of equipment from an employee of the City of Jonesboro; and

 

WHEREAS, bids were taken for the interior painting of City Hall, but later discovered the low bidder was a city employee; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Administration and the Jonesboro City Council that compliance with A.C.A. 14-42-107 is satisfied for the conducting of city business.

 

BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the following agreements are authorized as recommended by the Mayor’s Office and approved by the Public Works Committee:

 

SECTION 1: Officer Jeff Vernon of the Jonesboro Police Department, as low bidder and meeting bid specifications, is hereby authorized to contract with the City of Jonesboro for the painting of the interior of City Hall, located at 515 W. Washington.

 

SECTION 2: The purchase of an Echo Power Pruner (Model No. PPT-260) from city employee, Boyd Cardwell in the amount of $375.00.

 

SECTION 3: This ordinance being necessary for the financial continuity of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is hereby declared to be an emergency and shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
