AN ORDINANCE VACATING A CERTAIN PORTION OF AN UNNAMED STREET CONNECTING FRANKLIN STREET AND GARLAND DRIVE IN McCARTY ADDITION TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO

WHEREAS, in order to effects a connection between Franklin Street and Bernard Street, the owners of property in that area have proposed to swap certain property to permit such connection in return for the closing of apportion of the connecting street between Franklin Street and Garland Drive, all of which would be in the best interest of the City of Jonesboro.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that under the provisions of Arkansas Stat. Annotated 19-2304 the City does hereby vacate and abandon the following described position of an un-named dedicated street connecting Franklin Street and Garland Drive, to wit:
Part of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 20, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, further described as follows: Commence at the Southwest corner of Lot 10 in Block “C” of McCarty Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; thence East along the South lines of Lots 10 and 9 in said Block “C” a distance of 267.5 feet to the Southeast corner of Lot 9; thence South 30 feet; thence West parallel with the South lines of Lots 9 and 10 a distance of 267.5 feet; thence North 30 feet to the point of beginning, which dedicated street has never been opened to the public and is not required for corporate purposes.
Said property shall revert to the owners of the adjacent property and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute a Quitclaim Deed to such property to those owners, if necessary.
