The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met in regular session on Thursday, June 14, 1973 in the Court Room at City Hall at 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Mr. A.E. Scott, Jr.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Scott, Adams, Young, Morrison, Cooper, Roddy, Matthews, and Haggenmacher.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Mardis.
OTHER PRESENT: Mr. Joe Tomlinson and Tom Moore, Jonesboro Sun.
Items for business were as follows:
Item #1. Seabrook, Lithgow, and Kujath, Inc. request preliminary approval of “The Place”, an apartment complex to be located at the city limits just west of Caraway Road and containing 3.8 acres. The architect, Jim Fairley, appeared to answer questions about the development. A motion was made by Mr. Young and seconded by Mr. Roddy to APPROVE the request subject to adequate utilities and service facilities being installed in accordance with Arkansas State Health Department regulations. A vote was taken. The vote was YEA: Adams, Young, Morrison, Cooper, and Roddy. NO: Matthews. PASS: Haggenmacher. The motion to APPROVE the request was passed.
Item #2. Joe Rankin requests final approval of Rankin’s Oak Forest 2nd Addition. This property is located west of Rankin’s First Addition and north of Timber Trails in southwest Jonesboro. A motion was made by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Matthews to APPROVE the request. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #3. Frank Walden requests approval of a replat of Lot 6 of Marshall Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas into Lots 1 and 2. This property is located on Marjorie Drive. A motion was made by Mr. Haggenmacher and seconded by Mr. Matthews to DISAPPROVE the request. The vote was taken. The vote was YEA: Young, Roddy, Matthews, and Haggenmacher. NO: Morrison and Cooper. PASS: Adams. The motion to DISAPPROVE the request was passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
