CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - SEPTEMBER 2, 1997

Council observed a moment of silence in remembrance of Mr. Isaac Stotts, President of the NAACP, who died Tuesday, August 26, 1997. Mr. Stotts, a respected member of the Jonesboro community, died at age 75.

The Jonesboro City Council met Monday, September 2, 1997, at 6:30 p.m. A full quorum was in attendance. Present were: Mayor Brodell, City Clerk, Donna K. Jackson, City Attorney, Phillip Crego and 9 council members. Those members were: Rorex, Province, Crockett, Rega, Pratt, Young, Fletcher, Bowers, and Roddy. Councilmen Kelton, Kelly, and Tate were unable to attend.

The minutes of August 18, 1997, were approved as delivered by Councilman Young, seconded by Councilman Province. A voice vote was taken resulting in all council members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Rorex, Province, Crockett, Rega, Pratt, Young, Fletcher, Bowers, and Roddy.

The following ordinance was on the third and final reading:

ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CHANGES IN ZONING BOUNDARIES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES (Real Estate Solutions)

Councilman Young moved, seconded by Councilman Roddy for the adoption of the ordinance. A voice vote was taken resulting in all council members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Rorex, Province, Crockett, Rega, Pratt, Young, Fletcher, Bowers, and Roddy. The ordinance was given number 3003.

Councilman Crockett moved, seconded by Councilman Young to pull Bid No. 97:24 - Modular Sub-Station from the agenda. A voice vote was taken resulting in all council members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Rorex, Province, Crockett, Rega, Pratt, Young, Fletcher, Bowers, and Roddy.

Councilman Rega moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher for the adoption of a traffic resolution placing traffic signs at the following locations:
