AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CHANGE IN ZONING BOUNDARIES.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1:   That Ordinance No.954 known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Jonesboro be amended as recommended by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission by the change in Zoning district boundaries as follows:

 

From Residential (R-1) to Commercial (C-3) of property described as follows: A part of  the  Northeast  Quarter of the  Northwest  Quarter (NE 1/4 , NW 1/4) of Section 9, Township 13  North,  Range 4  East of the  5th Principal Meridian in Craighead County, Arkansas,  more  particularly described  as  follows;

 

From the Northwest Corner of the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of said Section 9, thence N 88° 25' 32" E 1462.11 feet along the north line of said Section 9 to a point on the westerly right-of-way of the Missouri Pacific Railroad, thence S 36' 53" W 977.35 feet along said railroad right-of-way to the beginning of a curve to the left, thence in a southwesterly direction 97.97 feet along a curve to the left, said curve having a central angle of 01° 27' 02" and a  radius of 3869.72 feet to the Point of Beginning;

 

Continue thence along said railroad right-of-way 413.50 feet along a curve to the left, said curve having a central angle of 06° 07' 20" and a radius of 3869.72 feet to a point on the northerly right-of-way of Arkansas Highway 163 thence N 46° 02' 21" W 241.07 feet along the northerly right-of-way of Arkansas Highway 163 to a point on the easterly right-of-way of Arkansas Highway 1, thence N 31° 45' 24" E 384.82 feet along the easterly right-of-way of Arkansas Highway 1 to a point, thence S 52° 59' 00" E 246.56 feet to the Point of Beginning, containing some 2.17 acres, more or less, subject to utility easements 20 feet in width along existing overhead electric lines along the south side thereof.

 

SECTION 2:   It is sound and declared by the City Council that proper use of the tract of land described in this Ordinance is being delayed because of improper zoning and that, therefore, an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
