AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS, ZONED C-5, ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, LOCATED IN WARD 3, BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT DATED JANUARY 17, 1986

WHEREAS, a Petition for the annexation of certain lands to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, hereinafter described, was duly filed in the City Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, on December 17, 1985; and
WHEREAS, said Petition for the annexation of said lands was signed by all of the real estate owners owning the property to be annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, an Order setting a hearing upon said Petition was entered, Notice was duly published of said hearing and upon hearing of said Petition at the hearing held by the County Court on January 17, 1986, at which hearing it was duly found and declared that said Petition for annexation was right and proper and that such lands, hereinafter described, should be annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, whereupon an Order of the annexation was made and entered and no proceedings to prevent said annexation have been filed in the Circuit Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, and said annexation proceedings are in all things confirmed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That the territory and lands annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, by Order of January 17, 1986, be, and are hereby, accepted by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and said territory, hereinafter described, shall be hereafter deemed and taken to be a part and parcel of the limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and the inhabitants residing therein shall have and enjoy all the rights and privileges of the inhabitants within the original limits of the City, Arkansas.
Section 2: The lands and territories hereby annexed and accepted by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, are more particularly described as follows: (Greenleaf)
A part of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 9, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, Craighead County, Arkansas, and being more particularly described as follows: Commencing at the Northeast Corner of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 9, Township 14 North, Range 4 East; thence North 89°26’ West 298.0 feet to the point of beginning proper; thence South 1°25’ West 753.0 feet; thence South 59°5’ West 708.6 feet along the Northwesterly right-of-way line of Highway #1; thence North 1°25’ East 1121.0 feet; thence South 89°26’ East 596.0 feet to the point of beginning proper, containing 13.46 acres, more or less, being all that part of Lots 8 and 9 of Hanna Webb’s Subdivision of the South Half of the Southwest Quarter of Section 9, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, lying North of Arkansas State Highway #1.
Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the territory hereinabove described be hereafter zoned C-5 and that the territory is annexed to Ward 3.
Section 4: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the territory hereinabove described be annexed and accepted by the City of Jonesboro and the citizens and property owners of said territory and that the same be annexed to the City so that the territory that is set out above may be entitled to fire, police, zoning and other protection and benefits and that said benefits and protection are urgently needed now in order to allow the growth and development of said land and territory. Therefore, this Ordinance, being necessary for the preservation and protection of the property, peace, health and safety, shall be in full force and effects from and after the date of its passage.
