CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, FEBRUARY 1, 1982

 

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, February 1, 1982, at 7:30 P.M. Present, Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and all aldermen except Mr. Bridger.

 

The minutes of January 19, 1982, were approved as furnished to council on motion by Mr. Hannah, second by Mr. Stricklin.

 

Mr. Park offered the following resolution:

 

RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE EAST ARKANSAS CABLEVISION TO INCREASE ITS RATES FOR SERVICE

 

Mr. Park moved for the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Mr. Shelton, all aye. The resolution was given the number 1982:02.

 

Mr. Stricklin offered the following ordinance:

 

AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT OF CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS, ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 5, ZONING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY COMMERCIAL (C-3); DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

 

Mr. Hannah moved the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on 2nd reading, seconded by Mr. Shelton, all aye.

 

Retha Schisler was appointed to the Public Facilities Board on motion by Mr. Sanderson, seconded by Mr. Hannah.

 

On motion by Mr. Park, seconded by Mr. Sanderson, Witt Wood was reappointed to the Library Board.

 

Mr. Hannah moved that the City solicit bids on surplus property belonging to City. Motion seconded by Mr. Minx, all aye.

 

Mr. Hannah offered the following ordinance:

 

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A 1982 BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO

 

Mr. Hannah moved the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on 2nd reading, seconded by Mr. Minx, all aye. Mr. Hannah moved the rules be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on 3rd reading, seconded by Mr. Shelton, all aye. Mr. Hannah moved for the adoption of the ordinance to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Minx, all aye. The ordinance was given the number 1792.

 

There being no further business, council adjourned.
