WHEREAS, after due notice, the City Council at the Special called public hearing of August 25, 1975, heard all persons deserving to be heard, and whereas, Jackson Street from Main Street to Union of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas as herein after described, is no longer needed for corporate purposes and; Whereas, the vacating, abandonment and closing of Jackson Street from Main Street to Union Street and the alleys contained in Block "B" of the original survey to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas as herein after described, would be in the best interest of the public and would promote the welfare and well being of the majority of the public.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
 
Section 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, hereby releases, vacates, closes and abandons all of its rights together with the right of the public generally in and to Jackson Street and the alleys described as follows:
 
Jackson Street 60 feet in width by 190 feet in length bounded on the East by Main Street and the West by Union Street; on the North by the Public Square and the South by lots 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 1, Block "B" in the original survey of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and the alley running North and South between Jackson Street and Jefferson Avenue in Block "B" of the original survey to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas being bounded on the East by lots 11, 2, 3, 4, inclusive, of said Block "B" and on the East by lots 10, 7, 6, 5, inclusive, of said Block "B"; and the alley running East and West between Main Street and Union Street in Block "B" in the original survey of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, said alleys being bounded on the North by lot 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 1, inclusive of said Block "B" and on the South by lots 7 and 2, inclusive of Block "B", appearing of record in plat Deed Record Book 48, at Page 11, in the Recorders Office of Jonesboro, Arkansas, filed May 30, 1917.
 
Section 2: A copy of this ordinance duly certified by the City Clerk shall be filed in the office of the Recorder of Craighead County, at Jonesboro, Arkansas and recorded in the Deed Records of Craighead County, at Jonesboro, Arkansas.
 
Section 3: The closing, vacating, and abandonment by the City of its rights and the rights of the public generally in the above described street and alleys is in the public's interest and will promote the public peace and welfare, that, therefore, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
