AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES: TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF: AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: The City Council finds and declares that the condition of traffic is such to endanger the traveling public and pedestrians at certain streets and intersections and that certain traffic control devices are established and placed at and on the following streets and intersections:

 

(a)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Whitehaven Court and itself, traffic Whitehaven Court going east yielding to traffic going northeast.

(b)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Pear tree Place and Wood Street, traffic on Pear tree Place yielding to traffic on Wood Street.

(c)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Pine crest and Maryland, traffic on Pine crest yielding to traffic on Maryland.

(d)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Neville and James St., traffic on Neville yielding to traffic on James St.

(e)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Hampton and Ridgecrest St., traffic on Hampton St. yielding to traffic on Ridgecrest.

(f)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Nix Lane and Paula Dr., traffic on Nix Lane yielding to traffic on Paula Dr.

(g)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Michael and Paula Dr., traffic on Michael yielding to traffic on Paula Dr.

(h)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Michael and Rusher, traffic on Michael yielding to traffic on Michael yielding to traffic on Rusher.

(i)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Smoot and W. Nettleton, traffic on Smoot yielding to traffic on West Nettleton.

(j)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of E. Lakeshore Dr. and E. Matthews, traffic on E. Lakeshore Dr. yielding to traffic on E. Matthews.

(k)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Fairway Dr. and E. Lakeshore Dr., traffic on Fairway Dr. yielding to traffic on E. Lakeshore Dr.

(l)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Marjorie Dr., E. Lakeshore Dr. and Fairway Dr., traffic on Marjorie yielding to traffic on E. Lakeshore Dr. and Fairway Dr.

(m)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of E. Lakeshore Cove and E. Lakeshore Dr., traffic on E. Lakeshore Cove yielding to traffic on E. Lakeshore Dr. 

(n)                     A stop sign to be placed at the east intersection of Matlock and Lakewood, traffic on Matlock yielding to traffic on Lakewood Dr.

(o)                     A stop sign to be placed at the south intersection of Matlock and Lakewood, traffic on Matlock yielding to traffic on Lakewood Dr.

(p)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Lakeview and Lakewood, traffic on Lakeview yielding to traffic on Lakewood.

(q)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Duckswater and Wood Springs, traffic on Duckswater yielding to traffic on Wood Springs.

(r)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Bloommeadow and Duckswater, traffic on Bloommeadow yielding to traffic on Duckswater.

(s)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Tumbleweed and Duckswater, traffic on Tumbleweed yielding to traffic on Duckswater.

(t)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Madera and Wembleton, traffic on Madera Dr. yielding to traffic on Wembleton.

(u)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Birchwood Circle and Dupwe, traffic on Birchwood Circle yielding to traffic on Dupwe.

(v)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Teekwood and Dupwe, traffic on Teekwood Cove yielding to traffic on Dupwe Dr.

(w)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Elmdale and W. Nettleton, Traffic on Elmdale Dr. yielding to traffic on W. Nettleton Ave.

(x)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Turtle Creek Dr. and Quail Ridge, traffic on Turtle Creek yielding for traffic on Quail Ridge Dr.

(y)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Creekwood and Cherrywood, traffic on Creekwood yielding to traffic on Cherrywood.

(z)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Cherrywood and Vail Drive, traffic on Cherrywood yielding to traffic on Vail Drive.

(aa)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Vail Cove and Vail Dr., traffic on Vail Cove yielding to traffic on Vail Drive.

(bb)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Maryland Dr., Wedgewood Cove and Heritage Cove, traffic on Maryland Dr. yielding to traffic on Wedgewood Cove and Heritage Cove.

(cc)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Brentwood and Culberhouse, traffic on Brentwood yielding to traffic on Culberhouse. 

(dd)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Cherrywood and Springwood, traffic on Cherrywood yielding to traffic on Springwood.

(ee)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Fox Meadow Cove and Fox Meadow Lane, traffic on Fox Meadow Cove yielding to traffic on Fox Meadow Lane.

(ff)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Eastbrook and Countrybrook, traffic on Eastbrook yielding to traffic on Countrybrook.

(gg)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Countrybrook and Oakbrook, traffic on Countrybrook yielding to traffic on Oakbrook.

(hh)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Countrybrook and Fox Meadow Lane, traffic on Countrybrook yielding to traffic on Fox Meadow Lane.

(ii)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Stonebrook and Fox Meadow Lane, traffic on Stonebrook yielding to traffic on Fox Meadow Land.

(jj)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Stonebrook and Oakbrook, traffic on Stonebrook yielding to traffic on Oakbrook.

(kk)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Woodfield and E. Nettleton, traffic on Woodfield yielding to traffic on E. Nettleton.

(ll)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Woodfield and Nelms, traffic on Woodfield yielding to traffic on Nelms.

(mm)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Edgefield and Woodfield, traffic on Edgefield yielding to traffic on Woodfield.

(nn)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Sally and Edgefield, traffic on Sally yielding to traffic on Edgefield.

(oo)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Edgefield and E. Nettleton, traffic on Edgefield yielding to traffic on E. Nettleton.

(pp)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Avenir and Brown’s Lane, traffic on Avenir yielding to traffic on Brown’s Lane.

(qq)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Executive Sq. and Brown’s Lane, traffic on Executive Sq. yielding to traffic on Brown’s Lane.

(rr)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Post Oak and White Oak, traffic on Post Oak yielding to traffic on White Oak.

(ss)                     A stop sign to be placed at the Lone Star property on Southwest Drive and Hampton, traffic leaving the parking lot to stop at Hampton.

(tt)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Spring valley and Neely, traffic on Springvalley yielding to traffic on Neely.

(uu)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Sunnybrook and Neely, traffic on Springvalley yielding to traffic on Neely.

(vv)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Roleson and Wood St., traffic on Roleson yielding to traffic on Wood St.

(ww)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Redwood and Candlewood, traffic on Redwood yielding to traffic on Candlewood.

(xx)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Turtle Creek and Neely, traffic on Turtle Creek yielding to traffic on Neely.

(yy)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Primrose and Caraway, traffic on Primrose yielding to traffic on Caraway.

(zz)                     A stop sign to be placed at the intersection of Primrose and Stone, traffic on Primrose yielding to traffic on Stone.

 

Section 2: The drivers of all vehicles shall obey all traffic control signals per instruction of the face thereof. 

 

Section 3: The Chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described streets at the proper place, appropriate signs designating traffic control as set out and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down. Remove or mutilate such signs or violate the instructions on the face of said signs.

 

Section 4: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more that One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).

 

Section 5: All ordinances and/or parts of ordinance in conflict herewith are herby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

 

Section 6: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, that increasing traffic congestion and lack of traffic control devices have caused or will cause danger to life and property; this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effects and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
