A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF PROPERTY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A U.S. 63 FRONTAGE ROAD TO JOE MACK CAMPBELL PARK

WHEREAS, plans being developed to make U.S. 63 a limited access facility include an interchange at Dan Avenue (U.S. 63B); and

 

WHEREAS, the interchange project includes elimination of the U.S. 63 / Joe Mack Campbell Park access drive, and construction of a frontage road from Harry Drive to the park; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mayor and City Council that a portion of the park property, all of which was purchased exclusively with City funds, be conveyed to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department for road right-of-way;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:

 

SECTION 1.  That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and are hereby authorized to execute appropriate documents to convey, to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, a strip of property, as follows:

 

Part of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 10, Township 14 North, Range 3 East, Craighead County, Arkansas, more particularly described as follows:

 

Starting at the Southeast Corner of Lot 2 of Carr’s West Side Addition; thence North 10°21’45” West along the East line of U. S. Highway 63B; thence South 75°09’02” East along said existing right of way line a distance of 743.50 feet for the point of beginning; thence continue South 75°09’02” East along said existing right of way line a distance of 15.28 feet to a point; thence South 00°37’33” West a distance of 10.16 feet to a point on the Southerly proposed right of way line of U.S. Highway 63B; thence North 76°15’00”  West along said proposed right of way line a distance of 15.20 feet to a point; thence North 00°29’37” East a distance of 10.46 feet to a point of beginning and containing 153 square feet more or less.

 

SECTION 2.  That it is hereby found and determined that no adverse impact to the park or to the environment will occur as a result of the construction of said U.S. 63 frontage road and no mitigation will be required.
