AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING A PORTION OF THE NORTHWEST QUARTER OF THE NORTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION 26, TOWNSHIP 14 NORTH, RANGE 4 EAST IN CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS, TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, it has been determined by the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, after due notice and according to provisions of law, to enter an Order of Annexation dated December 19, 1962 making the lands described as follows, to-wit:
A part of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter in Section 26, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, being more particularly described as follows: Begin at the intersection of the North right-of-way line of the St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad and the West line of Section 26 aforesaid; thence North along the West line of Section 26 and the East line of Section 27 aforesaid; to the South line of Sarah Avenue; thence East along the South line of Sarah Avenue to the East line of Earl Kiech Fourth Addition; thence North along the East line of Earl Kiech Fourth Addition to the South line of Janice Avenue; thence East along the South line of Janice Avenue 15 feet to the East line of an alley; thence North along the East line of said alley to the Southwest corner of Veon C. Kiech Addition; thence East along the South line of Veon C. Kiech Addition to the East line of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 26 aforesaid; thence South along the East line of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 26 aforesaid to the North right-of-way line of St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad; thence West along the North right-of-way line of the St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad to the point of Beginning, containing 27.5 acres, more or less. A part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and it has been found that said territory should be accepted into and made a part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
IT IS, THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That the above described lands are hereby accepted and made a part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and annexed thereto, and the persons residing therein shall have and enjoy all rights and privileges of the inhabitants within the original limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and said territory is assigned to Ward Six.
Section 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that there are two major industries within the described property which have recently completed construction and begun operation which have a need for fire, police and sanitary protection and benefits, and such annexation being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and his Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
