AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING A FOUR (4) ACRE SQUARE IN THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE NW ¼ NE ¼, 38 ACRES IN THE NE ¼ NW ¼ AND 1/5 ACRES IN THE NW ¼ NW ¼ ALL IN SECTION TWENTY-SIX (26), TOWNSHIP FOURTEEN (14) NORTH RANGE FOUR (4) EAST TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
It being determined by the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, after due notice and according to the provisions of law, to enter an order of annexation on November 9, 1971, making:
A 4 acre square in the Northwest corner of the NW ¼ NE ¼, 38 acres in the NE ¼ NW ¼ and 1.5 acres in the NE ¼ NW ¼ all in Section 26, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, being more particularly described as follows: Begin at the Southeast corner of Veon Kiech Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; thence North to the North Line of Section 26, Township 14 North, Range 4 East; thence East to the Northeast Corner of said NE ¼ NW ¼; thence East 417.5’; thence South 417.5’; thence West 417.5’ to the East line of said NE ¼ NW ¼; thence South along said line to the Southeast corner of said NE ¼ NW ¼; thence West to the Southwest corner of the NW ¼ NW ¼ of said Section 26; thence North on the 40 acre line to the North right-of-way line of the St. Louis and S.F. Railroad; thence East along said right-of-way line to the West line of the NE ¼ NW ¼ of said Section 26; thence North along said line tot eh South line of Veon Kiech Addition, the point of beginning, containing 43.5 acres, more or less, a part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas It being found that said territory should be accepted into and made part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
IT IS THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That the above described lands are hereby accepted and made a part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, annexed thereto, and the persons residing therein shall have and enjoy all the rights and privileges of the inhabitants within the original limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Section 2: Said lands shall be assigned to Ward 6.
Section 3: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas. That there is now an extreme emergency that the territory herein be immediately annexed to and accepted by the City of Jonesboro in order to facilitate proper development of the property and so that inhabitants therein can be entitled to fire, police, zoning and other protection and benefits, and that said benefits and protection are urgently needed now in order to allow the growth and development of said lands and territory; therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation and protection of the public peace, health and safety shall take effects and be in full force from and after its passage.
