AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING A PORTION OF SECTIONS 8, 9 AND 16 OF TOWNSHIP 14 NORTH, RANGE 3 EAST IN CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS, TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, it has been determined by the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, after due notice and according to revisions of law, to enter an Order of Annexation dated August 7, 1962 making the lands described as follows, to-wit:
Begin at the Southwest corner of Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 16, Township 14 North, Range 4 East; thence East along the South line of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 16, Township 14 North, Range 4 East 687.6 feet; thence North to the South right-of-way line of State Highway No.1; thence Northeasterly along aforesaid right-of-way line to a point where same intersects the North line of Section 16, Township 14 North, Range 4 East; thence East along the North line of Section 16 to the Southeast corner of Lot 10 of Hannah Webb Subdivision; thence North along the East line of Lot 10 of Hannah Webb Subdivision to the Northeast corner of Lot 10 or the Northeast corner of Hannah Webb Subdivision; thence West along the North line of Hannah Webb Sub-division to the section line; thence North on the section line to the South line of Greensboro Road; thence Southwesterly along t e South line of Greensboro Road to a point which is West of the section line between Section 8 and 9, Township 14 North, Range 4 East 1195.8 feet; thence South parallel to the section line between Sections 8 and 9, Township 14 North, Range 4 East to appoint which is 1757.6 feet South of the North line of Southeast Quarter of Section 8, Township 14 North, Range East; thence East parallel to the North line of the Southeast Quarter of Section 8, Township 14 North, Range 4 East 1195.8 feet to the section line; thence South on the section line to the corner of Sections 8, 9, 16 and 17; thence South on Section line between 16 and 17 to the South right-of-way line of State Highway No.1; thence Northeasterly along aforesaid right-of-way line 791.8 feet; thence South 463.1 feet; thence West 357.6 feet; thence South 46.8 feet; thence West 75 feet; thence South 25 feet; thence West 150 feet; thence South 25 feet; thence West 85 feet to the section line; thence South on the section line to the Southwest corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 16, Township 14 North, Range 3 East, to the point of beginning, a part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and it being found that said territory should be accepted into and made a part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas;
IT IS, THEREFORE, ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That the above described lands are hereby accepted and made a part of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and annexed thereto, and the persons residing therein shall have and enjoy all rights and privileges of the inhabitants within the original limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and said territory is assigned to Ward One.
Section 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that there are a number of property owners within the described property and that there are planned a number of subdivisions in that area, and of which have a need for fire, police and sanitary protection and benefits, and such annexation being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
