The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met in regular session at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 11, 1972 in the Court Room at City Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Scott.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Scott, Young, Adams, Morrison, Cooper, and Matthews.
MEMBERS ABSENT: King, Griffin, and House.
OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. Bill Bell and Mr. Curt Hodges.
Item #1. Jerry and Maralyn Sims request a replat of Lot 6, Block C of Kelley Subdivision of Apple Hills Subdivision, Jonesboro, Arkansas. A motion was made by Mr. Morrison and second by Mr. Cooper to APPROVE the replat. The vote was taken. The vote was YEA: Young, Morrison, Cooper, and Matthews. No: Adams. The motion to APPROVE the replat was carried.
Item #2. Jerry and Maralyn Sims request a replat of Lot 3, Block C of Kim-Kar Subdivision of Apple Hills Subdivision, Jonesboro, Arkansas. A motion was made by Mr. Morrison and seconded by Mr. Cooper to APPROVE the replat. The vote was taken. The vote was YEA: Yong, Morrison, Cooper and Matthews. NO: Adams. The motion to APPROVE the replat was carried.
Item #3. Scott Plumbing requests approval of a replat of Lot 5 and a portion of Lot 3 of Block 3 of Broadaway Addition. This property is located at S. Allis Street and Hope Avenue. This tract shall hereafter be referred to as Scott’s Second Subdivision to Jonesboro, Arkansas. A motion was made by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Morrison to APPROVE the replat subject to the dedication of enough rights of way to tie South Allis Street into the east-west alley at the northwest corner of the property. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #4. Wallace Fowler and Associates request a 15 foot variance on set back on the east side of Lots 2 and 3 of Terrace Apartments replat of College Place Subdivision, Jonesboro, Arkansas. A motion was made by Mr. Young and seconded by Mr. Adams to TABLE the request for thirty days for further explanation. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #5. David and Juanita Owen request approval of plat of Owens Subdivision of the east 100 feet of Block 18 of Knights First Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas. A motion was made by Mr. Young and seconded by Mr. Matthews to APPROVE the request. The vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #6. Guaranty, Inc. requests preliminary approval of a plat of the Northgate Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas. This property is located along and north of Bradley, extending 657.7 feet north-south; it extends from Culberhouse 1327.9 feet east through the east side of Beth Street. A motion was made by Mr. Young and seconded by Mr. Adams to TABLE the request until the property is brought into the city limits so that property building codes can be enforced on any structure built, and that north-south streets can be extended to adjoin the existing 3rd and 4th streets, and also that the dead-end streets conform to the 400 foot limit. The vote was taken. The vote was YEA: Young, Adams, Morrison, and Matthews. NO: Cooper. The motion to TABLE the request was passed.
Item #7. Don Baker requests preliminary approval of a plat of Spring Valley Subdivision located in the Northwest quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 35, Township 14 North, Range 3 East, Craighead County, Arkansas. A motion was made by Mr. Young and seconded by Mr. Morrison to APPROVE the preliminary request. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
