The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met on Thursday, November 14, 1968, at 7:30 P.M. in the City Hall, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Melton, Lane, Kenward, Falls, Ulmer, Griffith
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Scott.
Items for business were as follows:
Item #1. Guaranty of Jonesboro: Request to change zoning from Residential (R-2) to Residential (R-3) of a part of Lot 13, Broadway’s Addition to Jonesboro as recorded in Book 18, Page 169, in the office of the Circuit Clerk and Ex-Officio Recorder of Craighead County, Jonesboro, Arkansas, being more particularly described as follows: Beginning at the Northwest corner of aforesaid Lot 13, Broadway’s Addition; thence south along the East line of Kitchen Street 165 feet to the southwest corner of Lot 13; thence north 89 degrees 46-feet east along the south line of Lot 13 a distance of 256.7 feet to the west line of Fisher Street; thence north 0 degrees 59 feet along the west line of Fisher Street as it now exists 150 feet; thence south 89 degrees 46 feet west 129.2 feet; thence north 15 feet to the north line of Lot 13; thence south 89 degrees 46 feet west along the north line of the aforesaid Lot 13 a distance of 125 feet to the point of beginning. Action by Commission: commission, by unanimous vote, gave Chairman Scott the authority to approve the replat of Lot 13, but the zoning change request was denied.
Item #2. Warren Abrams: request to change the zoning from Residential (R-3) to Commercial (C-3) of a fractional part of the Northeast Quarter of the northeast Quarter of Section 28 Township 14 North of the base line, Range 4 East of the fifth principal meridian and more particularly described as follows: Commencing at the northwest corner of the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter of Section 28, Township 14 North, Range 4 East aforesaid; thence south 89 degrees 55 minutes east along the north line of the aforesaid Northeast Quarter of the northeast quarter of Section 28 a distance of 480 feet; thence south 0 degrees 55 feet west 62.85 feet to a point on the proposed right of way line of Highway 18; thence continuing south 0 degrees, 55, minutes west 147.15 feet; thence north 89 degrees 55 minutes west 210 feet; thence north 0 degrees 55 minutes east 147.39 feet to the proposed right of way line of Highway; thence south 89 degrees 51 minutes east along the proposed right of way line of Highway 18 a distance of 210 feet to the point of beginning and containing an all 0.71 acres, more or less. Action by Commission: Request denied in executive session.
Item #3. Dr. Donald Hudson: Request to change the zoning from Residential (R-3) to Commercial (C-3) of the Northwest Corner of the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 28, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, Lot 2 in Block A of the Timm’s Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Action by Commission: Request denied in executive session.
Item #4. Whitt Woods: Request subdivision of a part of the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 20, Township 14 North, Range 4 East. Action by Commission: Move by Ulmer, Second by Kenward, to give temporary approval for subdivision. Full approval subject to examination of replat of the addition by Chairman Scott on condition property owner increases right of way line on Wilkins Street from 60 to 72 feet. Motion approved.
