AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES, STOP SIGNS AND STOP LIGHTS AT CERTAIN STREET INTERSECTIONS WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO; PROVIDING THAT ALL VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS SHALL OBEY SAID TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES OR SIGNS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: The City Council hereby finds and declares that the condition of traffic is such as to endanger the traveling public at the intersections of the following streets and avenues; and that traffic control devices, stop signs or stop lights are hereby established and placed at the following intersections as follows:
(1) A stop sign on the east side of Madison, 10 feet south of the south line of Strawn;
(2) A stop sign on the north side of Warner Avenue, 10 feet east of the east line of Union Street;
(3) A stop sign on the east side of McClure, 10 feet south of the south line of Burke Avenue;
(4) A stop sign on the west side of McClure, 10 feet north of the north line of Burke Avenue;
(5) A stop sign on the east side of Flint, 10 feet south of the south line of Burke Avenue;
(6) A stop sign on the west side of Flint Street, 10 feet north of the north line of Burke Avenue;
(7) A stop sign on the north side of Cherry Avenue, 10 feet east of the east line of Walnut;
(8) A stop sign on the south side of Cherry Avenue, 10 feet west of the west line of Walnut;
(9) A stop sign of the west side of Cherry Avenue, 10 feet north of the north line of Cherry;
(10) A stop sign on the west side of Church Street, 10 feet south of the south line of Cherry Avenue; (this was deleted on original not on notice published).
(11) A traffic light at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Flint Street;
(12) A traffic light at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Union Street;
(13) Stop sign on the west side of Wofford, 10 feet north of the north line of Campus;
(14) Stop sign on the East side of Wofford, 10 feed south of the south line of Campus.
SECTION 2: Ordinance No.761 as amended by Ordinance No.852 establishing traffic lights is hereby amended to include the above mentioned traffic lights, all other provision of said Ordinance 761 applying to the traffic lights, all other provision of said Ordinance 761 applying to the traffic lights herein established.
SECTION 3: The Chief of Police or some person designated by him is hereby directed to place the stop signs herein established at all points above described.
SECTION 4: All persons operating vehicles on said streets or avenues shall bring such vehicles to a complete stop at a distance not less than 10 feet from said intersection so marked with stop signs nor more than 25 feet from said intersection.
SECTION 5: Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, or of Ordinance No.761 shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not less than $5.00 nor more than $25.00 for each offense.
SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and adoption.
