AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT DATED OCTOBER 23, 1981, ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 4; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, a Petition for the annexation of certain lands to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, hereinafter described, was duly filed in the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, Western District on September 16, 1981; and
WHEREAS, said Petition for the annexation of said lands was signed by all of the real estate owners owning the acreage to be annexed to the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, an Order setting a hearing on said Petition was entered, notice was duly published of said hearing and hearing was duly had upon said Petition in the County Court on October 23, 1981, at which hearing it was duly found and declared by the court that said Petition for annexation was right and proper that said lands hereinafter described should be annexed to the City of Jonesboro, whereupon an Order of annexation was made and entered; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: The Territory and lands annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, by order of the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, Western District, dated October 23, 1981, be and they are hereby accepted to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and said territory hereinafter described shall hereafter be deemed and taken to be part and parcel of the limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and inhabitants within the new annexation shall have and enjoy all the rights and privileges of the inhabitants within the original limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Section 2: The lands and territory annexed to and accepted by the City of Jonesboro. Arkansas, are more particularly described as follows:
The South 325 feet of the East 417 feet of the South Half of the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 23, Township 14 North, Range 3 East, Craighead County, Arkansas, 3.11 acres.
Section 3: The lands and territory annexed to the City of Jonesboro and hereby accepted by the City are hereby assigned and attached to Ward 4.
Section 4: The lands and territory herein annexed to the City of Jonesboro have been zoned R-1.
Section 5: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro. Arkansas, that immediate plans for development of the area hereby annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, require the immediate extension of fire, police, zoning, water and other protection and benefits in order to allow the orderly growth and development of said lands and territory and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage.
