Other business before the commission was as follows:
Mr. Charles McKinley a resident of the North Main and Gordon Street area, asked to address the commission, stating concern by citizens of the area over allowing commercial development in this primarily residential section. The area is presently zoned Industrial One. Instead of the area growing toward industrial usage as was contemplated when the zoning was instituted, most businesses of that nature have moved. Mr. Scott suggested that a public hearing be held and that Mr. McKinley should bring information back pertaining to rezoning areas by block if the majority of the residents desire to have their zoning changed. Mr. Vance, Mr. White and Mr. Orr, were named as a committee to meet with Mr. McKinley and look at this area.
The floor was opened for nomination of chairman, vice chairman and secretary of the commission. Elections were as follows:
Mr. Cooper, Chairman, Mr. Tilton, Vice Chairman and Mr. Vance, secretary.
