AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINACE NO. 954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CHANGE IN ZONING BOUNDARIES.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 954 known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Jonesboro be amended as recommended by the City Planning Commission by the change of zoning district boundaries as follows:
1. From Residential (R-1) to Commercial (C-2) of a ten acre tract described as the East Half of the West half of the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 29, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, being on the South side of Highland Drive and on the West side of the new Jonesboro Coca-Cola Plant, consisting of 330 feet frontage on East Highland Drive.
2. From Residential (R-2) to Commercial (C-3) of property described as: Beginning at the Northwest Corner of the intersection of Caraway Road and East Matthews and running in a Northwesterly direction along the North side of East Matthews Avenue 1501.8 feet; thence East 356.2 feet to the South right-of-way line of the St. Louis Southwestern Railway Railroad right-of-way; thence Southeasterly along the South right-of-way line of the aforesaid railroad right-of-way to the West right-of-way line of Caraway Road; thence South along the West right-of-way line of Caraway Road 150 feet to the point of beginning and being a part of the North Half of the Northeast Quarter of Section 20, Township 14 North, Range 4 East.
3. From Residential (R-2) to Commercial (C-3) of Lots 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, in Block 2: Lots 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23 in Block 3, and Lots 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29 in Block 4 of the East Washington Addition to Jonesboro; being more particularly described as the North 197 feet of property fronting on the South side of Hope Street between McDaniel and Houghton Streets.
SECTION 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that proper use of the tracts of land described in the Ordinance is being delayed because of improper zoning and that, therefore, an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
