AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 8-8 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO; THE SAME DEALING WITH FEES TO BE CHARGED FOR ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS BY THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: Section 8-8 of the Code of ordinances is hereby amended as follows:
(a) Before beginning any electrical work within the area of jurisdiction of the City Electrical Inspector, the person installing same shall make application for the required inspections and pay all fees for said inspections. A double inspection fee shall be assessed to any person, firm, or corporation commencing any electrical work prior to making application for the required inspections and the payment of all fees for said inspections.
(b) The applications for electrical inspections shall be accompanied by fees in accordance with the following schedule:
(1) Application issuance fee:
Residential-------------------------------------------- $3.00
Commercial/Industrial buildings and apartments over two units-------------------------------- $5.00
(2) Service entrance:
First 100 amps---------------------------------------- $2.00
Over 100 amps to 1200 amps, per 100 amps----- $1.00
Over 1200 amps, per 100 amps---------------------$0.50
(3) Circuits:
First circuit-------------------------------------------- $2.00
2 to 10 circuits, each ---------------------------------$0.70
Over 10 circuits, each--------------------------------$0.40
(4) Motors and connected horsepower:
First horsepower or outlet---------------------------$2.00
2 to 10 horsepower or outlet, each-----------------$0.35
Additional horsepower or outlets, each-----------$0.20
(5) Commercial/industrial building re-inspection fee: The inspection fee for the re-inspection of a commercial/industrial building under the provisions of section 8-7 (b) shall be five dollars ($5.00). An application issuance fee shall not be assessed for inspections requested under the provisions of section 8-7 (b).
(6) Heating Kilowatts:
Up to an including 30 KW-------------------------$5.00
Over 30 KW, each KW or fraction thereof------$0.20
(7) Unit Heaters:
Each unit---------------------------------------------$2.50
(c) An additional fee of two dollars ($2.00) shall be assessed for each additional trip on the part of the electrical inspector, caused by the negligence of the electrician.
(d) All fees assessed under this section shall be collected by the city collector and then paid over to the Department of Finance and Administration.
(e) Where motors and generators are combined as motor/generator sets, the permit fee shall be based on the motor only.
(f) When generators and motors are installed at the same time, and the generators are to supply current for the motors, permit fees shall be based on the horsepower of the generators or the motors, whichever is the greater in horsepower.
Section 3: All ordinances and/or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4: This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force from and after January 1, 1980.
