AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT DATED MARCH 16, 1967; ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 5: DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, a petition for the annexation of certain lands to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas hereinafter described was duly filed in the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, Western District, on February 20, 1967; and
WHEREAS, said petition for the annexation of said land was signed by all of the real estate owners, owning all of the acreage to be annexed to the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, an order setting a hearing upon said petition was entered, notice was duly had and held in the County Court on March 16, 1967, at which hearing it was duly found and declared that said petition for annexation was right and proper and that such lands hereinafter described should be annexed to the City of Jonesboro, whereupon an order of annexation was made and entered; and
WHEREAS, 30 days has expired since the order of annexation dated March 16, 1967, and no proceedings to prevent said annexation having been filed in the Circuit Court for the Western District of Craighead County, Arkansas, said annexation proceedings was in all things confirmed by the County Court by its order of April 17, 1967.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, and ENACTED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: The territory and lands annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, by order of the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, Western District, by its order of March 16,, 1960, be and are hereby accepted by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and said territory hereinafter described shall be hereafter deemed and taken to be a part and parcel of the limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and the inhabitants residing herein, shall have and enjoy all of the rights and privileges of the inhabitants within the original limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Section 2: The lands and territory hereby annexed to and accepted by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, are more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
A part of the South Half of Section 29, and a part of the South Half of Section 30, in Township 14 North, Range 4 East, more particularly described as follows: Begin at the Northeast Corner of the Northeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 29 aforesaid; thence South 89° 02’ West along the Quarter Section Line 1024.2 feet to the point of beginning proper; thence South 207.7 feet; thence South 14°24’ West 130.8 feet; thence South 26°40’ East 88.0 feet; thence South 80° 10’ East 45.0 feet; thence South 43° 10’ East 100.0 feet; thence South 18°40’ East 85.0 feet; thence South 26° 50’ East 200.0 feet; thence South 47°44’ East 70.0 feet; thence South 71° 44’ East 76.0 feet to the West line of the East Half of said Northeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter; thence South along said line to the South Line of said Section 29; thence West along the South Line of said Sections 29 and 30 to the Southwest Corner of said Section 30; thence North along the West Line of said Section 30 a distance of 988.7 feet; thence East 915 feet; thence North 1651.3 feet to the North Line of the South Half of Section 30 and 29 aforesaid; thence East along the North Line of the South Half of Sections 30 and 29 aforesaid to the point of beginning proper.
Section 3: The lands and territory annexed to the City of Jonesboro and hereby accepted by the City of Jonesboro are hereby assigned and attached to Ward 5, of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Section 4: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that there is now an extreme urgency that the territory herein be immediately annexed to and accepted by the City of Jonesboro so that said property may be included in the cities next census count; and that it is in the interest of the City of Jonesboro and the citizens and property owners of said territory that it set out above can be entitled to fire, police, zoning and other protection and benefits, and that said benefits and protection are urgently needed now in order to allow the growth and development of said lands and territory. Therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage.
