Light stated the that utility companies generally do not apply for permits before doing work in the public right-of-way. They are supposed to get a permit when they cut a street but that doesn’t always happen. Light stated the City has prepared a draft ordinance for the permitting process. Wyatt and Coleman will meet with the Mayor about the utility companies coming to town.

Wyatt reminded everyone one to keep Jonesboro beautiful by picking up trash. This also keeps the trash out of stormwater systems.

Light stated the City has 37 active subdivisions and the City checks all the pipes in the subdivision before acceptance and document the problems. The Developer is given the list of issues to correct. The City does not charge a fee to do this and it is sometimes done three or four times. Light proposed establishing a fee for the service if the City has to camera the pipe system more than two times.
