III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
*Minutes for the August 21, 2019, Stormwater Management Board Meeting
Motion to approve the minutes was made by Farris and seconded by Merideth. The minutes were unanimously approved.
IV. NEW BUSINESS
Gibson explained the attached Annual CRS Report is required because of the Repetitive Loss Structures. It is updated to include activities from the last year. The City of Jonesboro is currently classified as a Class 8. Bevill questioned if the City’s goal is to lower the Class ranking. Light stated the City would like to be a classified lower but there is not the staff or funding. A Class 6 ranking would require changes to be done in the Inspections Department regarding the Building Code.
V. OLD BUSINESS
Wyatt stated he was pleased with the feedback from the bus tour. The Board would like to take another trip in the fall. Light stated because of funding the JET bus can only be used so many hours a year for things such as this and those times have to be coordinated with the Mayor. He will check into the availability for a fall tour because only a small portion of the City was covered.
Some comments included the potential of videos of some of the areas of concern being provided at the meeting. Light stated that he would like to have a drone to fly some of the areas but currently the equipment is not available.
VI. OTHER COMMUNICATIONS
Farris questioned if there was a way to partner with other organizations for beautification of some of the ditches. Light stated the City has an “Adopt a Stream” program but there has been no interest in the program. Wyatt suggested publicizing the program. The Community Reinvestment Act requires banks to participate in programs that benefit the community. Smith suggested putting something on the City’s social media outlets. Farris stated he would provide the Board with information he gathered at the state’s water meeting in Fayetteville at the end of July regarding what they are doing with their Beaver Lake watershed. It outlines ways they are using partnership, grants, etc. for that watershed. Some of the ideas could be used in Jonesboro.
VII. PUBLIC COMMENTS
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
Wyatt adjourned the meeting at 8:49 a.m.
