IV. NEW BUSINESS

Wyatt stated that the Board is mandated to have a certain number of meetings a year. Wyatt ask for an update on the latest rain. Light stated there were a hand full of structure that flooded south of town (Richardson Road/Colony Park area).

Light stated that the City has done some ditch work in the area behind the Southside Softball Complex hoping to give the neighborhood some relief. When the neighborhood was developed in the early 1990’s, 2 36” pipes were installed. The codes have changed since that time.

There was also quite a bit of water on Hickory Circle in the Hilltop area. Coleman stated he got a call about mud getting in a swimming pool. Light stated his department got the same call. The City did talk to the property owner about clearing the trees. The property owner was not in compliance in keeping the property from eroding. Parker questioned, what happens when property owners are not in compliance and affect other people’s property? Light stated in this the case the property owner was contacted but a citation was not issued. The citation is $100.00 and ties up someone in court all day. Light stated the City has had success with “Stop Work” orders. It is a civil matter between the neighbors about cleaning the pool. Light stated that the City doesn’t know there is a problem unless someone calls about it.

Wyatt ask if there are any new developments. Light stated Mark Morris is doing a subdivision in the Valley View area with 165 lots. There is nothing big in commercial developments.

Light stated Alliance submitted new drawing on the 18th.

Wyatt ask for an update on the Repetitive Loss Structures. Light stated grant money was used to purchase all the properties that owners were willing to sell. The owners that refused to sell will not get a discount on flood insurance.

Wyatt ask the status of the flood maps. Gibson stated the review process is over. The City sent three comment letters and got comment numbers.
