RESOLUTION APPROVING A SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT OFFER BY THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION FOR IMPROVEMENTS AT THE AIRPORT

WHEREAS, Pursuant to directions of the City Council and to laws, ordinances, and resolutions, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro has heretofore designated the Jonesboro Airport Commission to do all things related to management of the Jonesboro Airport and construction of improvements thereon, including extension and rebuilding of runways, and the City has provided for the financing thereof; and

WHEREAS, on the 3^rd day of June, 1968, the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed and adopted a Resolution approving, confirming and ratifying a Grant Offer made by the United States of America through the Federal Aviation Administration in the amount of $460,000 to construct certain improvements on the Jonesboro Municipal Airport; and

WHEREAS, on the 4^th day of June, 1968, pursuant to the authority of said Resolution, said Grant Offer was executed for the City of Jonesboro by the Mayor and City Clerk and the Chairman and Secretary of the Jonesboro Airport Commission; and

WHEREAS, due to conditions beyond the control of either the United States of America or the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, costs of said construction exceeded original estimates and funds for complete payment of the balance of said construction are not available; and

WHEREAS, the United States of America through the Federal Aviation Administration has offered an additional and supplemental grant of $46,000, which together with funds available to the Airport Commission will complete financial obligations on said Airport construction;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that it approves, confirms and ratifies the said supplemental grant offer in the exact text and form made to Jonesboro by the Federal Aviation Administration, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of this Resolution, and authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute said Grant Offer on behalf of the City of Jonesboro, and the Chairman and Secretary on behalf of its Airport Commission.
