Fire Chief, Butch Herring reported the burn ordinance was being reviewed by City Attorney, Crego, but was not complete as yet. Mr. Herring also reported on the presentation regarding a new radio system. He explained they would be going to look at a similar radio system located in Clarksville, Tennessee. He stated it had been recommended by three different two-way radio dealerships that the UHF system be strongly considered, and he stressed the old system has been reliable with regard to equipment, but not the coverage. He explained we needed to first determine our needs prior to purchasing the system.
VECTOR MOSQUITO CONTROL

HILLCREST TRAPPING
Mr. Bowman provided a report regarding the trapping of a pack of dogs located behind Fazzolies, near Hillcrest School. It was explained there existed a cat colony which was to blame for the pack of dogs. He stated the cats were a danger to children because of the threat of rabies if bitten by the cats or dogs. Discussion was held regarding the need for a vicious dog ordinance. Mr. Bowman explained the Jonesboro Ordinance allows for an individual to be bitten twice before anything can be done. Councilman Hargis reported the County as a proposed ordinance pertaining to vicious dogs. Aubrey Scott was instructed to ask Mayor Brodell to send a letter to Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Bill Beasley informing him of the situation. Councilman Perrin requested a monthly report be provided to committee members by all departments directly involved with Public Safety.
