RESOLUTION FOR TRADE OF PROPERTY FOR A DEDICATION DEED WITH CITY WATER AND LIGHT PLANT TO PROVIDE A BETTER PASSAGEWAY TO THE POST OFFICE

WHEREAS, traffic demands require the eventual widening of Carson Street between Creath Street between Creath Avenue and Monroe Avenue, and the eventual widening of Creath Avenue between East Street and Carson Street, and the need therefore constantly increases due to the necessity of providing a better passageway to the post office and to the City Water & Light Plant offices and for ingress and egress to the Central Business District; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro owns Lots 1 and 2 of Block 8 of Barrett’s Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, which was formerly used as a location for the maintenance shop for city vehicles and the City Water & Light Plant owns the East 10.55 feet of a part of LOT 1 of Block C of Elder’s Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas, being more particularly described as follows:
Begin at Northeast corner of said LOT 1; thence S89° 57’W 57.8 feet; thence South 120.4 feet; thence S89° 39’E 57.8 feet to the West line of Carson Street; thence North along said West line 121.0 feet to the point of beginning and the City Water & Light Plant of the City of Jonesboro further owns Lot 1,2 and the East 30 feet of Lot 3 of Block C of Elder’s Addition to the City of Jonesboro and the City Water & Light Plant has agreed to dedicate to the City of Jonesboro for street purposes the East 10.55 feet of a part of Lot 1 of Block C of Elder’s Addition to the City of Jonesboro and required and necessary right of way at such time as the City of Jonesboro may widen Creath Street adjacent to and along the North line of Lots 1,2 and the East 30 feet of Lot 3 Block C of Elder’s Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council finds it to be to the benefit of the City and the citizens of Jonesboro to trade property owned by the City and described as:
All of Lots 1 and 2, Block 8, Barrett’s Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas;
For a Dedication Deed from the City Water & Light Plant to:
The East 10.55 feet of a part of Lot 1 of Block C of Elder’s Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas, being more particularly described as follows: Begin at the Northeast corner of said Lot 1; thence S89° 57’W 57.8 feet; thence South 120.4 feet; thence S89° 39’E 57.8 feet to the West line of Carson Street; thence North along said West line 121.0 feet to the point of beginning; and to dedicate the required and necessary right of way at such time as the City of Jonesboro may widen Creath Street adjacent to and along the North line of Lots 1,2 and the East 30 feet of Lot 3, Block C of Elder’s Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas, more particularly described as follows:
A part of Lot 1 of Block C of Elder’s Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas, being more particularly described as follows: Begin at the Northeast corner of said Lot 1; thence S89° 39’E 57.8 feet to the West line of Carson Street; thence North along said West line 121.0 feet to the point of beginning; and
All of Lot 2, Block C, the East 30.0 feet of Lot 3, Block C of Elder’s Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas, and a part of Lot 7 of Cobb’s Survey of the NW1/4 of SE1/4 of Section 18, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, being more particularly described as follows: Begin at the Northeast corner of Block C of Elder’s Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas; thence S89° 57’W along the South line of Creath Avenue 57.8 feet to the point of beginning proper; thence South 89° 57’W along the South line of Creath Avenue 87.8 feet; thence SO° o5’E 170.5 feet; thence S88° 25’E 87.9 feet; thence N1° 18’W 52.0 feet; thence North 120.4 feet to the point of beginning proper;
And the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute Quitclaim Deed to the City Water & Light Plant of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a municipal corporation, on behalf of the City, a Dedication Deed, and both deeds as above described.
