July 10, 1975
The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met in regular session on Thursday, July 10, 1975 at 7:30 P.M. in the Court Room at City Hall.
The meeting was called to order by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Ralph Morrison in the absence of the Chairman, Mr. Aubrey Scott.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Morrison, Cooper, Ball, McDaniel, and Gott.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Scott, Smith, Wheeless.
OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. Joe Tomlinson and Larry Fugate.
Items for business were as follows:
Item #1. J.A. Lamberth requests approval of a replat of Lots 8, 9, 10, and 11 of the J.A. Lamberth Subdivision. General location of property is described as being east of the Mays Addition, north of the Watkins Subdivision on the north side of the Old Greensboro Road. A motion was made by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Ball to APPROVE the request. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #2. J.A. Lamberth requests approval of a replat of Lots 16, 17, 18, and 21 of the J.A. Lamberth Subdivision. General location same as Item No.1 of this agenda. A motion was made by Mr. Gott and seconded by Mr. McDaniel to APPROVE the request. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #3. Bill Dacus and Bob Gibson request a final approval of Northland Subdivision. Subject subdivision was granted preliminary approval on May, 1975 with provisions. General location of the property is described as being a part of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 32, Township 15 North, Range 4 East containing 12.4 acres more or less. General location is described as being east of Highway 141 North and north of Bennett Subdivision and being approximately one quarter mile north of the Thomas Green Road. A motion was made by Mr. Ball and seconded by Mr. Gott to APPROVE the request subject to the approval of the City Engineer. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #4. Guaranty of Jonesboro requests preliminary approval of Scenic Hills Subdivision, First Addition, being a replat of a part of Kimbrell Subdivision, Section A and to include approximately 25.5 additional acres to the north of said Kimbrell Subdivision. General location of this property is described as being along the north side of Nettleton Avenue extended being north of the Briarwood Addition. A motion was made by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Ball to APPROVE the request subject to the property owner coordinating with the Arkansas Highway Department and the City Engineer, Gene Gardner, to reach an agreement as to what right of way will be required for the public road on the west property line prior to the resubmission of the plat for final approval. A vote was taken and the motion as passed unanimously.
Item #5. Roger Moore requests final approval of a replat of Lots 1 and 2 of Block D, Candlewood Estates, First Addition. General location of this property is described as being on the south side of Neely Road between Christian Creek and Quail Drive. A motion was made by Mr. Gott and seconded by Mr. McDaniel to approve. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #6. Village Communities, Inc. request final approval of Candlewood Estates, Third Addition, containing a 15.8 acre tract adjoining the Candlewood Estates 2nd Addition on the east. General location of this property is described as being on the south side of Neely Road between Christian Creek and Quail Drive. Preliminary approval was granted at MAPC meeting, June, 1975. A motion was made by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Ball to APPRVOE the request subject to approval by the City Engineer. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #7. Dave Smith requested preliminary approval of the Dave Smith Second Subdivision being a part of the NE Quarter, NW Quarter, Section 7, Township 14 North, Range 4 East. General location of the property is described as being west of Highway 141 North and being north of the Robindale Addition and contains approximately 3,206 acres. A motion was made by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Ball to APPROVE the request. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
Item #8. S and J Construction Company requests preliminary approval of the Turtle Creek Industrial Park. Subject property was formerly known as Stallings Industrial Addition and approved by the MAPC with stipulations 14th January, 1971. Subject parcel contains 8.9 acres more or less. General location is described as being adjacent to and northwest of Neil Drive. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously to approve.
Item #9. Dr. A.H. Abernathy requests final approval of a replat of Lots 14 and 15 of the Belmont Addition into one lot to be known as Abernathy’s First Replat of Belmont Addition to Jonesboro. Subject property is located on the southeast corner of Highland Drive and Southwest Drive. A motion was made by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. McDaniel to APPROVE the request with the stipulation that a plat be resubmitted indicating a 41 foot right of way on Highway 39 (Southwest Drive) and that subject plat indicates the distance from subject property line to the right of way requirement of Highland Drive. A vote was taken. The vote was YEA: Cooper, McDaniel, and Gott. Pass: Ball. The motion was passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 P.M.
