MAPC   MINUTES

MAY 13, 1982

 

The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met Thursday May 13, 1982 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Cooper, Mr. Blalock, Mr. Ball, Mr. Tilton, Mr. White and Mr. Feher. MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Farmer, Mr. Smith and Mr. Scott.

 

Others Present: Mike Cameron and John Broadaway.

 

#1    Beth Couch  requests  a  rezoning from Residential Two (R-2)  to Commercial Three (C-3), the  following  described  property:  Lot  13  of Keich’s Third Subdivision.  The general location of  this  property  is  North of  Race Street  and West of  U.S.  Hwy 63B (Nettleton Avenue).

 

Mr. Ball made the motion to approve request.  Mr. Feher seconded the motion.  The motion was APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

#2    Margaret A. Frier,  Sara R. Sewell  and  Elizabeth  B. Heringer  request  a  rezoning  from Residential Two (R-2) to Industrial One (I-1), the following described property : Lots 12, 13, 37 and  38  of  Block  E  of  Belmont  Addition  to  the  City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.  The general location  of  this  property  is  North  of  Rose Street  and  East of  South  Madison Avenue.

 

Mr. Tilton made the motion to approve the request.  Mr. Ball seconded the motion.  Motion APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

#3    Roy Cooper  request  a  replat  of  Lots 1  thru 7  and  a  part  of  Lot 8  of  Wilson’s Second Addition to  Jonesboro, Arkansas  into  one  lot.  The general location of this property is West of Gee Street   and North of Jefferson Avenue.

 

Mr. Ball made the motion to approve the request.  Mr. White seconded the motion.  The motion was APPROVED   UNANIMOUSLY.

 

#4    Thomas Seabrook requests advice as to whether The Pines Apartments could possibly be converted to condominiums.  The Pine Apartments are located just North of Johnson Avenue and West  of  North Caraway Road.

 

Mr. Ball moved to Table this request until they had more information from City Engineer, City Attorney, Building Inspector, and other cities.  Needs additional information on Plott Plans.  Mr. Tilton seconded the motion.  The motion was APPROVED   UNANIMOUSLY.

 

#5    Jim Mead  requests  preliminary  approval  of  subdivision  plans  and  a  replat  for Mead’s Development Addition  to  Jonesboro, Arkansas.  The general location of this property is South of the U.S. 63 By-pass and West of Brown’s Lane.

 

Mr. White made the motion to approve the request with the following stipulations:

1.   If property is developed-the developer Pete Mead will pay One-Half of cost of Bridge

2.   Only one Street parallel to Higginbottom Creek.  East and West.

3.   Finish all side streets, develop all Curbs and Gutters.

 

Mr. Ball seconded the motion.  The motion was APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

With  no  further  business  the  meeting  adjourned  at  9:10  p.m.
