Mr. Emerson came before the board to state his reasons for wanting this property rezoned. He would like to state his reasons for wanting this property rezoned. He would like to see the area improved in looks and he personally would like to build a chapel on his property and cannot do this unless it is rezoned to C-3. Mr. Cooksey would like it rezoned so he would be able to see it more profitable and be able to recover his investment in his property. Mr. Caldwell’s plans as what he will do with his property in the future are incomplete. He would like to see it rezoned to C-2 to clean out the Cooksey eyesore. Mr. Stone asked what assurance the residential area would have the no more drive-in eating facilities would be built on these properties. He was concerned about littering and trash from drive-ins in the area now. Mrs. Stroud asked if the property owners would stipulate no drive-ins. Mr. Caldwell, Mr. Emerson, Mr. Cooksey agreed to a bill of assurance keeping drive-ins from building on their property. They also stated Hudson Oil Company would cooperate fully. Walker brought a petition with 45 signatures protesting the rezoning. Mr. Walker stated that property values would go down on their residences, and that other property owners on down the ditch would not benefit from Mr. Vance’s improvement of the ditch.
