AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CHANGE IN ZONING BOUNDARIES FROM R-2 TO C-3 AND FROM C-1 TO I-1

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That Ordinance No. 954 known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Jonesboro is amended as recommended by the metropolitan Area Planning Commission by the change in zoning district boundaries as follows:

 

1. From Residential (R-2) to Commercial (C-3) of property described as: The west 346 feet of the south 210 feet of Lot 3 of Cobb & Lee’s Survey of the Northwest Quarter of Section 21, Township 14 North, Range 4 East being the property known as the Northeast Corner of Stallings Lane and Caraway Road, 190’ x 316’.

 

2. From Commercial (C-1) to Industrial (I-1) of property described as: A part of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter and a part of the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 27, Township 14 North,  Range 4 East, more particularly described as follows: Begin on the West line of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter 1180 feet north of the centerline of U.S. Highway No. 63 By-Pass; thence East along existing corporate limit line parallel to said By-Pass to the intersection with the centerline of Whitman’s Creek; thence Southeasterly along said centerline to the intersection with the Westerly right-of-way line of Kathleen Street and U.S. Highway No.63 By-Pass to the West line of said Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter; thence North on said 40 acre line to the South line of Service Park addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas; thence West, North and West along the outside boundaries of Service Park Addition to the West line of said Southwest Quarter of the Southeast quarter; thence North along said line to the point of beginning, containing 29.2 acres; bounded on the South by the 63 By-Pass, on the East by Kathleen Street and on the West by Willow Creek Drive.  

 

Section 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that proper use of the tracts of land described in this Ordinance is being delayed because of improper zoning and that, therefore, an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
