CITY COUNCIL MINUTES DECEMBER 5, 1977
The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session Monday, December 5, 1977, at 7:30 p.m. Present: City Attorney and the following named aldermen: Park, Sanderson, Hinson, Shelton, Bridger, Minx, Hannah, Haigler, Stricklin, Province, Smith and Shepard. Absent: Mayor and City Clerk. Vice Mayor, Hannah presided in the absence of the Mayor.
On motion by Mr. Stricklin, seconded by Mr. Park, the minutes of November 21, were approved by unanimous vote of council.
The following resolution was offered by Mr. Stricklin:
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AUTHORIZING FILING OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM APPLICATION, APPROVING PLANS, MAKING CERTAIN ASSURANCES TO DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND AUTHORIZING MAYOR TO CERTIFY CONTENTS OF THIS RESOLUTION
Mr. Smith moved for the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Mr. Stricklin, all aye. The resolution was given the number 1977:20.
Mr. Smith offered the following resolution:
RESOLUTION OF CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AND THE JONESBORO URBAN RENEWAL AND HOUSING AUTHORITY FOR THE FOURTH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM, JONESBORO, ARKANSAS - 1978-1979
The resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of council on motion by Mr. Sanderson, seconded by Mr. Smith. The resolution was given the number 1977:19.
The following ordinance was on 2nd reading:
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CHANGES IN ZONING BOUNDARIES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
The following ordinance was on 2nd reading:
AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING SAID LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT OF CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS, ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 5; ZONING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY COMMERCIAL C-3; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FURTHER PURPOSES
Mr. Park offered the following ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE TO WIDEN NETTLETON STREET AVENUE FROM CARAWAY ROAD TO YOUNG STREET, ALSO KNOWN AS STADIUM BOULEVARD, AND TO CONDEMN SUCH PRIVATE PROPERTY AS IS NEEDED FOR THE WIDENING OF EAST NETTLETON AVENUE
Mr. Stricklin moved that the rules be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on third reading, seconded by Mr. Park, all voted aye.
Mr. Smith moved for the adoption of the ordinance to include the emergency clause, seconded by Shepard, all voted aye and the ordinance was given #1624.
Permission was granted for placing a mobile home at 1815 Henry, on motion by Mr. Parks, seconded by Mr. Smith, the only dissenting vote cast by Mr. Minx.
Mr. Sanderson moved that December 19 be set for Public Hearing on revenue sharing, Motion seconded by Mr. Shelton, all voted aye.
On motion by Mr. Sanderson, seconded by Mr. Stricklin, Dick Gray was appointed to the Airport Commission by unanimous vote of council.
There being no further business council adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
