AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT DATED JUNE 11, 1969; ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 1; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, the petition for annexation of certain lands to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, hereinafter described, was duly filed in the County Court of Craighead, Arkansas, on May 9, 1969; and
WHEREAS, said petition for the annexation of said lands was signed by a majority of the owners in number and area of the real estate to be annexed to the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, an Order setting a hearing on said petition was entered, notice was duly published of said hearing and hearing upon said petition was duly had and held in the County Court on July 11, 1969, at which hearing it was duly found and declared that said petition for annexation was right and proper and that such lands, hereinafter described, should be annexed to the City of Jonesboro; whereupon, an Order of Annexation was made and entered; and
WHEREAS, thirty days have expired since the Order of Annexation dated June 11, 1969, and no proceedings to prevent said annexation have been filed in the Circuit Court for the Western District of Craighead County, Arkansas:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: The territory and lands annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, by Order of the County Court of Craighead County, Arkansas, Western District, dated June 11, 1969, be, and they are hereby, accepted by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and said territory, hereinafter described, shall hereafter be deemed and taken to be a part and parcel of the limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and the inhabitants residing therein shall have and enjoy all the rights and privileges of the inhabitants within the original limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Section 2: The lands and territory hereby annexed to and accepted by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, are more particularly described as follows:
A part of Section 8 and 17, Township 14 North, Range 4 East; being more particularly described as follows: Begin at the Quarter Corner of said Section 8 and 17; thence East on the Section line 312 ½ feet; thence North on the East Line of Watkins Street 525 feet; thence West along the North line of Watkins 2nd Addition 410 feet; thence North parallel to the East line of the Southwest Quarter of said Section 8 to the intersection with the center line of Greensboro Road; thence Southwesterly along the center line of Greensboro Road to the intersection with the West Line of Watkins Subdivision of a part of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 8, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, produced Northward; thence Southeasterly along the West Line of aforesaid Watkins Subdivision 912.6 feet to the Section Line between Section 8 and 17; thence West on the Section Line 102.93 feet tot the intersection with the West Line of Lot 3 of Stevenson Subdivision of a part of Lot 2 of Cobb & Lee Survey of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 17 produced Northward; thence South along the West Line of said Lot3 of Stevenson Subdivision 657.7 feet to the Southwest corner of said Lot 3; thence East 202.75 feet to the East Line of Scott Street 627.6 feet to the North west corner of Lot 4 of aforesaid Stevenson Subdivision; thence East along the North line of Lot 4 171.25 feet; thence North 30 feet to the point of beginning proper, containing 14.58 acres.
Section 3: The lands and territory annexed to the City of Jonesboro and hereby accepted by the City are hereby assigned and attached to Ward 1.
Section 4: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that immediate plans for development of the area hereby annexed to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, require the immediate extension of fire, police, zoning, water and other protection and benefits in order to allow the orderly growth and development of said lands and territory, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation and protection of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage.
