PUBLIC HEARING - 6:15 P.M. - A public hearing was conducted as requested by Phillips Investments, Inc. and Engineer, Dan Mulhollen, for the purpose of closing a utility easement located in Shelby Acres Addition. No opposition was voiced.

 

PUBLIC HEARING - 6:20 P.M. - A public hearing was conducted as requested by Phillips Investments, Inc. and Engineer, Dan Mulhollen, for the purpose of closing a drainage easement located in Shelby Acres Addition. No opposition was voiced.

 

CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - April 2, 2001

 

The Jonesboro City Council met Monday, April 2, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. A full quorum was in attendance. Present were: City Clerk Donna Jackson, City Attorney Phillip Crego, and 10 council members. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, and Moore. Councilmen Perrin and Roddy were unable to attend. Councilman Kelton presided over the meeting for Mayor Brodell who was away on city business.

 

Councilman Rorex moved, seconded by Councilman Province to approve the minutes of March 19, 2001, as provided. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, and Moore.

 

Councilman Moore offered the following ordinance for first reading:

 

ORDINANCE TO VACATE AND ABANDON AN UNIMPROVED PORTION OF A TEN FOOT UTILITY EASEMENT, LOCATED IN THE 2100 BLOCK OF E. PARKER ROAD. (Phillips Investments, Inc. and Engineer Dan Mulhollen)

 

Councilman Rega moved, seconded by Councilman Young to suspend the rules and place on second reading. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, and Moore. Councilman Young moved, seconded by Councilman McCall to suspend the rules and place on the third and final reading. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, and Moore. Councilman Tate moved, seconded by Councilman Moore for the adoption of the ordinance. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, and Moore. Councilman Rega moved, seconded by Councilman Copeland for the adoption of the emergency clause. A roll call vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Kelton, Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, and Moore. The ordinance was assigned ordinance number 3279.

 

Councilman Young offered the following ordinance for first reading:

Councilman Young moved, seconded by Councilman Crockett to suspend the rules and place on the third and final reading. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, and Moore. Councilman Young moved, seconded by Councilman Tate for the adoption of the ordinance. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, and Moore. Councilman Rega moved, seconded by Councilman Copeland for the adoption of the emergency clause. A roll call vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. ORDINANCE TO REZONE PROPERTY FROM RESIDENTIAL (R-2) TO COMMERCIAL (C-3), LOCATED AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF ROGERS STREET AND JOHNSON AVENUE. (Lora Wells)

 

Councilman Rega moved, seconded by Councilman McCall to suspend the rules and place on second reading. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Councilman Tate moved, seconded by Councilman McCall to suspend the rules and place on the third and final reading. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. ORDINANCE TO REZONE PROPERTY FROM RESIDENTIAL (R-1) TO INDUSTRIAL I-2), CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED ON THE SOUTHSIDE OF EAST HIGHLAND AVENUE, APPROXIMATELY 2000 FEET EAST OF QUALITY WAY. (City Water & Light)
