A RESOLUTION TO ADD POSITIONS AND ADJUST BASE SALARIES FOR SPECIFIC POSITIONS EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 1994 AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THESE CHANGES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 1994 BUDGET YEAR.

WHEREAS, after review by the Finance Committee of the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, the following additions and adjustments are recommended in the area of personnel, and
WHEREAS, there is a need for additional appropriation for the 1994 budget year to meet these obligations,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that;
1. The following positions be added to the specified departments:
A) Five (5) full time Sergeant positions be added to the Police Department to allow for qualifying patrolmen to advance thereto,
B) One (1) full time Humane Officer be added to the Animal Control Department,
C) One (1) full time Diesel Mechanic position be established in the Street Department,
D) Two (2) part time Asphalt Crew positions be added to the Street Department,
E) Two (2) part time General Maintenance positions be added to the Street Department,
F) One (1) part time Mechanical Inspector position be added to the Planning and Inspection Department,
G) One (1) part time Technician position be added to the Information Systems Department,
H) Four (4) part time Recreation Aide positions be added to the Parks Department,
2. The following adjustments be made to base salary for the specified positions:
A) Add $50/month to base salary for the Secretary position in the Sanitation-Administration, JoAnn Poppleton and Parks & Recreation Department, Alice Samuels,
B) Add $40/month to base salary of Humane Officer Dawn Riggins,
C) Add $2000/year to salary of Rick Holman in Mosquito Control Program,
D) Add $126.73/month to base salary of Group Leader Guy Dyer in the Street Department.
3. The Police Chief shall hire five (5) patrolmen to fill the vacant positions created by the advancement of officers to sergeant positions.
4. Funds totaling $128,170 be appropriated as follows for the 1994 budget year:
$103,090 from unallocated Sales Tax to General Fund
$ 24,306 from unallocated Sales Tax to Street Fund
$ 387 from unappropriated Sanitation reserves to Sanitation Fund
$ 387 from unappropriated Parks reserves to Parks Fund.
5. These additions and adjustments shall become effective beginning June 1, 1994.
