Nominating and Rules Committee

March 15, 2005

Huntington Building

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Alderman McCall.  Members present were:  Tim McCall, Chris Moore, Alec Farmer, and Cecil Province.  Others in attendance were City Clerk Donna Jackson and Press.

Chair McCall called the meeting to order.

RESOLUTIONS

Airport Commission Appointments:  The decision was made to amend the original resolution establishing April 1^st as the expiration date for all boards and commissions that do not have a specified anniversary date.   A second amendment was made to the original resolution adding the following, “Whereas, it is the intent of the Jonesboro City Council to establish a consistent anniversary date; AND”.  Councilman Province moved, seconded by Councilman Moore to recommend the resolution as amended, and place on the April 5^th agenda.  All voted aye.

CDBG Advisory Commission:  The original resolution was amended to change the expiration date to April 1^st.  Councilman Moore moved, seconded by Councilman Farmer to recommend the resolution as amended, and place on the April 5^th agenda.  All voted aye.

Mayor’s Strategic Task Force - Public Transit:  Councilman Farmer moved, seconded by Councilman Province to recommend the resolution to the full council and place on the April 5^th agenda.    It was explained this ad hoc committee will expire when its task is finished or within one year.   All voted aye.

Revised Landfill Resolution:  The original resolution was amended changing the effective date 30 days from the date of its passage and approval.  It also provided for notice to be posted at the landfill no later than three days from its passage and approval.  Councilman Moore moved, seconded by Councilman Farmer to recommend the amended resolution, which was on the March 15^th agenda.  All voted aye.

ADJOURNMENT 

With no further business, Councilman Farmer moved, seconded by Councilman McCall to adjourn.  All voted aye.
