MAPC   MINUTES

DECEMBER 9, 1982

 

The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met December 9, 1982 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 314 West Washington, Jonesboro, Arkansas.                     

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mr. Roy Cooper.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Cooper, Mr. Ball, Mr. Smith, Mr. Blalock, Mr. Farmer,

Mr. White, Mr. Scott.

 

MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Tilton, Mr. Feher.

 

OTHERS PRESENT: Curt Hodges, John Broadaway, Sheri Kiech.

 

#1    Harold Simpson  requests  a  rezoning  from Residential Three (R-3) to Commercial Three (C-3),  the  following  described  property: Lot 41 and  the  South ½  of  Lot 40 of Northwestern Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas.  The  general  location  of  this  property  is  North of Gordon Avenue  and  West  of  Main Street.

 

Mr. Ball  made  the  motion  to  approve  the  request,  seconded  by  Mr. Scott.  REQUEST   APPROVED   UNANIMOUSLY.

 

#2    Jonesboro Public Schools requests a rezoning from Residential Two (R-2) to Commercial Three ( C-3 ),  the following described property:   Lots  4  and  5  of  Block  47 of  Culberhouse Subdivision of  Lots 27,  29,  43,  44, 46,  47 and 52, of Knight’s Second Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas. The general location of this property is North of Nettleton Ave. and East of Flint St. 

 

Mr. Ball made a motion to Table the request, seconded by Mr. Smith, subject to the following Stipulations:

 

1.   Request that either the Seller or the Purchaser get a new Survey of the property indicating the street width and lot sizes on both Nettleton and Flint Street.

2.   The city Engineer’s office needs to determine how much right-of-way the City needs to have for four (4) lanes on Nettleton Avenue. 

3.    A set plan from the Engineer’s office of a total reconstruction of the intersection. 

 

MOTION APPROVED.

 

#3   Wayne Watkins  requests  approval  of  replat  of  Lots  20,  21,  22  and  23, of  Block 9 of E. C. Stuck Addition  to Jonesboro, Arkansas into one lot.  The general location of this property is West of Rogers Street and South of Johnson Avenue.

 

Mr. Ball  made  a  motion  to  approve  the  request,  seconded  by  Mr. White.  REQUEST   APPROVED   UNANIMOUSLY.

 

#4    Johnny White requests preliminary approval of subdivision plans for Stonebridge  Place 2nd Addition which joins Stonebridge Place 1st Addition.  The general location of this property is East of Highway 1-B and South of Stonebridge Drive.

 

Mr. Ball  made a motion to approve the request, seconded by Mr. Farmer.  Voting Aye: Mr. Ball, Mr. Smith, Mr. Farmer, Mr. Blalock, Mr. Scott.  Mr. White passes.  REQUEST APPROVED.

 

#5    Virgil Wallace requests approval of a replat of Lots 7 through 10 and a part of Lots 3 through 6 of Teasdale Acres into six lots ranging in six from .925 acres to 1.558 acres.  The general location of this property is South of Highland Drive and East of Highway 1-B.

 

Mr. Blalock  made  a  motion  to  approve  the  request,  seconded  by  Mr. Farmer.  Voting Aye: Mr. Farmer, Mr. White,  Mr. Ball,  Mr. Smith,  Mr. Blalock.  Mr. Scott abstained. REQUEST APPROVED.

 

#6    Summers Little requests final approval of site development plans for conversion of Townhouse Manor Apartments to condominiums.  The general location of this property is East of South Caraway Road and North of Forrest Home Road.

 

Mr. Scott  made  a  motion  to  approve  the  request,  seconded  by  Mr. White.  REQUEST APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

#7    The Commission Members recognize that the File on Driftwood East of 1976 are incomplete.  The Plat needs a Stamp of Approval from the MAPC.  MOTION APPROVED.
