IV. OLD BUSINESS
Light explained that a trailer was set up on Harry Drive without a permit. The non- permitted trailer was discovered when the permit to build a warehouse on the property was submitted to the City.
It was discovered the finished floor of the trailer is 6” above the BFE. The City requires the finished floor level to be 1’ above the BFE. Terry Bare with HKB explained the trailer is a construction trailer and will be removed when construction of the warehouse is complete. Bare explained they do not know the time frame on the construction of the warehouse. Light suggested putting a stipulation in the motion that would require the trailer to be moved upon completion of the warehouse. The Board agreed. Coleman made the motion to grant the variance to allow the trailer located at 228 Harry Drive to remain for the duration of construction of the warehouse but must be removed within 30 days of the issuance of the CO for the warehouse. Gillis seconded. All voted aye. Bevill abstained.
Beisner reminded everyone the March meeting will be held in the Fourth Floor Conference Room.
Light briefly recapped the Corps of Engineers Conceptual Design. He stated that the proposed improvements would cost approximately $101 million. There was a discussion of the City’s share of the cost for the project. Light stated before cost could be discussed a decision has to be made as to how the City wants to manage flooding. Light stated presentation boards can be made and a public meeting could be held to inform the public of what is in the Corps report. The Board agreed there should be public input before a decision is made and forwarded to City Council for final approval.
Gibson stated a minor change had been made to the manhole design cover previously discussed. The Board agreed the revised design is the one to be used on the manhole covers. The use of the new design is not mandatory. Gibson stated he received a price of $2,024.00 from Neehah Foundry for the cost of the mold for the new design. Scurlock will charge the same price for the new design. A draft ordinance was presented to the Board for approval. The ordinance updated Drawing DI-6 the meet current specifications and allows for the use of the new design. Drawing DI-7 was added for Heavy Duty specifications and allows for the use of the new design in designated areas. Farris motioned to recommend the ordinance be forwarded to the Public Works committee. Morris seconded. All voted Aye. Gibson will contact the entrants.
