DRAINAGE PRESENTATIONS
Valley & Owens, NRS Engineering: Mr. Craig Light discussed the alternatives for the Valley and Owens drainage project. He recommended proceeding with alternative #1, which would include building two detention ponds on either side of Owens with a pipe running under Owens so the street would not be a dead end. Councilman Dover questioned whether the homeowners in the area would be willing to sell their homes. Mr. Mike Cameron stated they are not sure yet whether the homeowners will sell. He added they can proceed with alternative #1 and look into doing alternative #1B later if it’s needed. He noted alternative #1B may not be needed after more improvements are made upstream with other related drainage projects. Alternative #1B included building a bigger pond, which would cut the flows in half but it would require purchasing more homes and the road becoming a dead end. Mr. Cameron also stated the Street Department could possibly do some of the work for a lower price than what was proposed. Chairman Street questioned whether the Public Works task force recommended alternative #1. Mr. Cameron stated yes, the Public Works task force recommended proceeding with alternative #1. Mr. Aubrey Scott explained they would like to amend NRS Engineering’s contract for the work on Valley Drive to allow for the current $36,900 fee. It was asked for the contract amendment and the resolution be brought to the next Public Works meeting on December 5th for review by the committee. Councilman Dover motioned, seconded by Councilman Province, to recommend to the full Council proceeding with alternative #1 as presented and the place the amended contract on the agenda for the December 5, 2006, Council meeting. All voted aye
ORDINANCES/RESOLUTIONS
Resolution to post a No Parking sign at an area along Eldridge Street: Councilwoman Furr explained she has received complaints from homeowners on Eldridge Street due to the large amount of vehicles that park in that area. Councilman Farmer motioned, seconded by Councilman Dover, to place the resolution on the agenda for the Council meeting pending review and approval by the City Attorney. All voted aye.
