CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - January 23, 2006

 

The Jonesboro City Council met Monday, January 23, 2006, at 4:00 p.m. for a special called meeting. Members present were: Mayor Doug Formon, City Clerk, Donna K. Jackson, and ten council members. Those members were: Farmer, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street, Dover, Furr, McCall and Ashley.

 

Mayor Formon stated the purpose for the meeting is to get financing arranged for two fire trucks so they can be used. It was stated the rate for the leased equipment would be good until February 3rd, since that is 30 days from when Bank of America quoted the rate.

 

Councilman Dover offered the following ordinance:

 

ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIRE VEHICLES

 

Councilman Perrin moved, seconded by Councilman Dover, to suspend the rules and waive the second and third readings. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Farmer, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street, Dover, Furr, McCall and Ashley. Councilman Perrin moved, seconded by Councilman Dover, to adopt the ordinance. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Farmer, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street, Dover, Furr, McCall and Ashley. Councilman Perrin moved, seconded by Councilman Dover, to adopt the emergency clause. A roll call vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Farmer, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street, Dover, Furr, McCall and Ashley. The ordinance was given ordinance number 3608.

 

Councilman Farmer motioned, seconded by Councilman Hargis, that because the meeting was a special meeting with a limited agenda for specific purposes reconsideration for rezonings should not be heard at special meetings, rather at regularly scheduled City Council meetings. All voted aye. Those members were: Farmer, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street, Dover, Furr, McCall and Ashley.

 

With no further business, Councilman Street moved, seconded by Councilman Dover, to adjourn the meeting. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Farmer, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street, Dover, Furr, McCall and Ashley.
