A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO APPLY FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE (BJA) FOR FY 2019 BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP GRANT

WHEREAS, applications are now being accepted for the FY2019 Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant; and
WHEREAS, the FY 2019 Bulletproof Vest Grant is funded at 50% Department of Justice and a 50% local match is required; and
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Police Department is seeking funding for $33,879 to purchase 42 NIJ compliant armored vests of which $16,939.50 is the federally funded and $16,939.50 is local match; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1: The City of Jonesboro supports the submission of the Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance to submit the 2019 Bulletproof Vest Grant for $33,879 for 42 NIJ Compliant armored vests.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this application.
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to submit all necessary documents for this federal grant.
